Abu Dhabi, U.A.E. – 13 October 2009 – Three days of thrilling adventures, exciting shows and loud revving came to a great end when Adrenaline Sports Live, presented by Rani, and Barbican Turbo; the hottest festival for customized cars and motorcycles in the Middle East, wrapped up in the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre yesterday. The festivals drew in crowds of over 26,000 over three days and featured many shows and attractions from international companies such as Rani, Barbican, Nautica and Marc Ecko watches.
Matt Tarrant, the show manager comments “Visitors to the show have had an incredible 3 days, our attendance has rocketed up from last year and we’ve had a fantastic response from everyone who has visited. Bring on next year – we already have some major plans to take the events to the next step and to make them even more thrilling.”
The last day of the show witnessed the conclusion of many big competitions such as the Shangri La Qaryat Al Beri Dragon Boat championship which was organized by Siren Consulting, the Arab AM Skate champs, Dyno Shoot Out Engine Challenge to find the car with the most powerful engine, the Sound Off run by S.A.F.E. to find the best installed and loudest stereos and the Top 100 custom car competition, with the overall winner receiving a 5 star trip to Switzerland courtesy of Swiss International Airlines, Swiss Tourism and Zermatt Tourism.
On the Marine Front, Empros kept busy with queues of people signing up for try diving trials, while the RJ Performance Marine Wakeboarding competition reached a conclusion with Jeanne Mary Al Khalfan from Kuwait walking away with the Women’s league trophy and Fabiene Hermel from France winning the Men’s league competition. Rudi du Plessis, General Manager of RJ Performance Marine who organized the competition comments “Events such as this clearly demonstrate how unified and strong the wakeboard community is. There seems to be a strong appetite for professionally organized events and feedback has been phenomenally positive. We are certainly looking to launch a series of events with the support or our partners next year.”
Rani’s adrenaline activities included parkour shows, freestyle soccer, BMX and inline skate demos, a skate park and an in-door zipline which was open for the public. On the beach front, the all terrain sail kart known as the Zooter made an appearance and wowed the audience with its multi-terrain capabilities.
Other main attractions included drift demonstrations from the European Drifting Championships team – with a focus on educating visitors and local drifters about how to drift in a safe environment under controlled conditions and crazy drifting from Desert Rage buggies from the United Kingdom; an indoor ski slope designed for the show by Ski Dubai, a gaming zone featuring Electronic Arts’ recently released FIFA 10, Need for Speed SHIFT and The Beatles Rock Band, in addition to an air-soft arena hosting some of the best airsoft teams in the region.
